  • I worked hard but I didn’t get the results I wanted

    Dear TKC Team,

Today SEA results came out and I was very disappointed because I did not pass for my first choice. I may not have been the brightest child in my class but my teacher and family kept telling me that if I work hard, it will be worth it. It was not worth it and I am so disappointed. I hated every evening I had to do practise tests instead of playing outside or watching YouTube videos and everybody kept telling me it would pay off but it didn’t. I am so vex and I don’t want to talk to anyone. Should I take the test again?

    SEA results advice

    Hi A,

We’re so sorry that you did not get the results that you wanted. We’re sure you worked extremely hard but just because you did not pass for your first choice school does not mean that your work did not pay off. It’s possible that this could be a blessing in disguise – maybe you’ll be happier at the school you will go to than at any other school. It’s possible you’ll have opportunities there that you wouldn’t have anywhere else. The people you will meet, the activities you’ll join, the talents you’ll discover, the teachers who will become coaches and mentors; these will all help to shape you into the amazing person you’ll become.

You can consider taking the test again but we’d encourage you to keep an open mind. Why not get started in the school you passed for and if you really don’t belong there, you can transfer later on? Don’t be so focused on the moon that you forget about the stars. Count your blessings, approach your new school with an open mind and you may be surprised at all you can accomplish. There are hundreds of thousands of very successful people who did not pass for their first choice school. It was not the end of the world for them and it certainly won’t be for you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    The TKC Team.

  • The New Kid in class

I was sick yesterday so I stayed home. When I went to school today, I found that my class had a new student. We don’t sit close together, so I didn’t get to speak to her but I tried to speak to her at recess and she didn’t say anything at all.

I have a new baby brother and I don’t like him very much.He cries and screams all the time- even in the night when I’m trying to sleep! My parents don’t treat me the same anymore. They only pay attention to him and I feel left out.

  • Beach Safety

It is important to exercise safety precautions in every part of our lives, even and especially on a beach lime. Even out of the water, you can become injured. Sunburn is not usually regarded very seriously in Trinidad but it can have lasting damaging effects on your body and sunscreen should always be used and re-applied when outdoors. Protect your skin, it is your largest organ.

Everybody in my family has a new year resolution except me. I really like myself as I am and don’t want to lose weight or anything so I don’t see the point.
